Meet Ashley Duhon our Traveler of the Month for September 2023! Each month, we like to take time to recognize one of our Axis Rock Stars that have gone above and beyond for patients, coworkers and the families they work with. Ashley is currently working in Correctional Nursing in Washington; A location she said she has really grown to love!

Let’s dive in and get to know Ashley a little better!

What do you enjoy most about being in Seattle, WA and the PNW?

The BEAUTY of this state and Seattle, WA is incredible! It’s scenic, peaceful and full of god’s amazing creations. It has been wonderful being able to explore Washington and find new adventures to go on.

Any advice you’d like to share about getting into a travel healthcare career?

If you are thinking about it, do it! Go with your instinct. Traveling has been one of my favorite journeys and being able to travel and excel in my career is beyond rewarding. You’ll find yourself in the best places in ways you’d never imagine. I am a living testimony!

What has been a rewarding experience as a traveler?

Being able to work and connect in different settings with people from all over the nation has been the most rewarding experience in my career. I’ve pushed myself to new heights and have learned so much. It’s been amazing!

Why did you decide to get into travel nursing?

As a teen mom, I didn’t get the chance to go off to college and see the world. Now that I am older and seasoned, travel nursing has given me that opportunity to explore and learn more about what I am passionate about all while building my skillset and career.

Tell us about your favorite Travel Nurse destination and why it’s special to you.

So far, Washington State has been my only travel assignment location and I have grown to love it so much. I actually just signed my third contract in Washington State with Axis. I’ve met wonderful people and formed relationships that I will forever cherish. I’ve seen some pretty mesmerizing sites while here; lots of firsts for me! I will forever be grateful for the experience that travel nursing and Axis has given me.

How did you Discover Axis?

I discovered Axis online and through reviews. Once I met my recruiter, Danielle, the rest is history. Shout out to the best recruiter ever. Everyone should have a Danielle!
