Axis Spotlight Alex Willis

Give us a little history on how you became a Healthcare Recruiter

My parents are originally from Alberta, Canada and my mom is a RN. She was a travel nurse herself who worked with an agency that helped her land an assignment in California! Once my parents planted roots in CA, they decided to stay permanently and start a family. I always knew I wanted to be in the healthcare industry, but I am very uneasy with bodily fluids. I stumbled upon an opening for a Healthcare Recruiter and decided it was the best fit given my mom’s history! My mom still remembers her recruiter who helped her during the big move from Canada and even finding an apartment once she got here. My mom traveled as a young 21-year-old all alone, so she will always be thankful for her recruiter who helped her feel supported and cared for while she made the move alone. I, in turn, hope to help create lasting impressions on any healthcare professional I have the opportunity to join on their travel journey.

What do you enjoy most about working with Travel Healthcare Workers?

I love getting to know each and every one of my travelers. My goal as a Healthcare Recruiter is to create long-lasting impressions and relationships with everyone that I get to meet.

Are there locations that seem to be a favorite spot among travelers?

I would say everyone loves going to Seattle, WA and visiting the PNW! There are so many things to do in Washington and places to explore, and the facilities have been top-notch.

Share a piece of advice for someone looking to travel

My biggest piece of advice is to get outside of your comfort zone! I am jealous of all my travelers who get to travel the world and meet new people. I wish I had the opportunity to do so before settling down. Take this as an opportunity of a lifetime… You only live once!

What movies or shows would you recommend to travelers?

I am such a big Harry Potter nerd! It is so fun to watch the series, especially around the holidays. I could rewatch Dexter forever, but I have recently become addicted to Suits!

What are the top 3 activities on your bucket list?

  • Travel to London
  • Experience Disneyworld and Universal Studios in Orlando
  • Visit Niagara Falls on the Canadian side

What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

My most memorable vacation was one that I had just recently took. I went back to Canada to visit my family! I haven’t been back home since 2016 so it was amazing to be able to visit everyone again. We also took a trip to Banff, and it was beautiful! I HIGHLY recommend going if you are ever in Alberta, Canada.

What would you say is your favorite U.S. location?

I really enjoyed Spokane, WA but honestly, I haven’t traveled too much within the United States. I love visiting Lake Tahoe, CA, and all the different beaches along the coast of California.

What have you found that makes Axis different from the rest?

The people and the culture! I have never worked for a company that truly cares about not just the travelers, but their employees. Because I am treated with so much respect, it motivates me to perform well. It truly is the best company I have worked for, with the best management ever.
