Traveler of the Month: Ciene G!

Meet Ciene G. our Traveler of the Month for January and our first TOM of 2023! Each month, we highlight one of our travelers as our way of showing appreciation for their efforts and going above and beyond our expectations. Ciene is currently working as an ICU RN in Phoenix, AZ. Let’s get to know this Axis Rock Star a little better!

1. How did you get into travel nursing?

I’ve always loved traveling! Even before I was a nurse I’d always be looking for the next adventure. While working at the bedside I crossed paths with some travelers here and there and would pick their brains about it. It sounded like something that I could see myself doing and enjoying. So one day I made the decision and went for it!

2. What’s the best part about traveling?

Experiencing new places, meeting new people, and getting to learn more about different areas. My wife is a content writer and travels with me. So we drive together to all my assignments and get to see all the different parts of the US. It’s like an endless road trip!

3. You meet a first-time traveler in the Phoenix area, which restaurant is a must for them to try?

I’m still fairly new to the Phoenix area and I still need to explore the food scene quite a bit. But I was able to go to Pizzeria Bianco. Chris Bianco has won a James Beard award and he was also featured in the Netflix series Chef’s Table: Pizza. They only do first come first serve with some wait times being over 3.5 hours! But luckily, my wife and I went earlier in the evening so we got in fairly quickly. The pizza is definitely worth the hype.

4. What’s the best part about the Phoenix area?

So far, the weather here has been my favorite part. I hear it’s a totally different story come summer but being here in the winter months has been nothing but amazing.

5. Any advice for other travelers?

Have a general plan but be flexible. Not just in terms of work on the job, but also with travel and contracts. It’s always good to have an idea or layout of how you want things to go but how often does that always work out exactly as planned? You never know what you may find, or the experiences that you may have by going with the flow a bit more.

6. What do you like best about working with Axis?

I love how awesome all the people are at Axis. They are truly professionals at what they do. I have nothing but praise for their communication, timeliness, and how authentic they are in working with you to find the right contract. Nothing ever feels forced or fake. Just some good people.

Congrats Ciene! We’re so glad you joined the Axis team! 🙂
