Axis Spotlight Karissa Ormond

Give us a little history on how you got into the Travel Healthcare Industry

This is my first position in travel healthcare! Prior to being an onboarding specialist at Axis, I was doing onboarding and credentialing work for medical scribes. I have been with Axis for almost a year now. I couldn’t be happier working with those in the travel healthcare industry!

What do you enjoy most about working with Travel Healthcare Workers?

Travel healthcare workers are an incredible group of individuals to work with. They truly care about the work they do. They don’t choose to work in this industry because they must, but rather they love what they do.

Are there any locations that seem to be a favorite spot among travelers?

Travelers seem to really like roles out West like Washington and in the PNW. Warmer areas in the southwest like Arizona are very popular as well. Both locations have incredible scenery and provide a great quality of life so I can see why they prefer those locations!

Share a piece of advice for someone looking to travel

Plan plan plan. Starting a new job can be stressful so making sure you have your trip planned out, packing list created and housing all set up in advance can really help give you peace of mind and comfort so you can enjoy the start without a headache.

What movies or shows would you recommend to travelers?

The Bear on Hulu and Wilderness on Amazon Prime are amazing shows!

What are the top 3 activities on your bucket list?

  • Travel somewhere in Europe
  • Go hiking in Glacier National Park
  • Visit Hawaii

What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

My most memorable vacation would have to be going to Mexico. Hanging out on the beach and being next to the jungle, jet skiing and boating on the Pacific Ocean, swimming with dolphins, snorkeling in coral reefs. I did so many incredible things on that vacation. It’ll always be my favorite!

What would you say is your favorite U.S. location?

So far, my favorite U.S. location is Sedona, AZ. The views and scenery are incredible, and the hiking is the best!

What have you found that makes Axis different from the rest?

I think what makes Axis different is that we do not just churn out employees like some factories just to get people jobs. We work with travelers to find them roles they are TRULY interested in and in places they really want to go. We don’t have transactional relationships with our travelers, they are real partnerships.

With our team, we promise to make your traveling journey as smooth as possible.
