1. How did you get into travel nursing?
I fell into travel nursing when my partner and I grew tired of a traditional staff job. Hospital politics are frustrating and the pay wasn’t making up for the headache. There are countless options for healthcare workers, and travelers get to discover how other facilities in the country operate. Leveling up your career is so much more fun when going to a new and exciting location.
2. What’s the best part about traveling?
Although it is scary at first, seeing a new location is eye-opening. Getting to know the land has been wonderful and getting paid more isn’t too bad either. I feel more in control of my life and career with travel nursing.

3. You meet a first-time traveler in the Oregon City area, which restaurant is a must for them to try?
The most standout so far has been Dough Zone about 20 mins from Oregon City. You can feast on delicious dumplings and it isn’t that pricey!
4. What’s the best part about the Oregon City area?
Everything here looks like it belongs on a postcard! The mountains, trees, and rivers are breathtaking. Local wineries and restaurants are also top-notch.

5. Any advice for other travelers?
Particularly for first-time travelers, just go for it. It’s not easy in the beginning but you will learn what fits for you and what you are looking for in a location. Plan accordingly, crunch the numbers, look at travel nurse forums, and search blogs to think about what you want out of traveling. I have yet to meet someone who has regretted travel nursing.
6. What do you like best about working with Axis?
The team has made me feel important. Marissa is always quick to respond to my questions and she works hard to match me with the perfect job.
