Travel Nurse of the Month – Shelby C!

Name: Shelby C.

City, State: Denver, CO

Specialty: L&D

Month: Feb. 1

1.  How’d you get into travel nursing?

I have always heard great things about travel nursing. Starting in nursing school, I knew that I wanted to become a travel nurse as soon as I chose my specialty and gained enough experience. When I started to feel comfortable in Labor and Delivery, I started asking travelers for advice about how to jump into the field. I was introduced to my Axis recruiter, Lynna, by a friend and the planning started immediately!

2.  What’s the best part about traveling?

This may sound dorky, but the best part about being a travel nurse is the variety of experiences and knowledge gained by working at different facilities. I am constantly learning and pushing my boundaries, which is turning me into a really confident nurse. I learn something new every shift!

3.  You meet a first time travel nurse in the Denver area, which restaurants are a must for them to try?

My all time favorite restaurant in Denver is City O’ City!! It has a funky atmosphere and has a crazy menu of vegetarian/vegan comfort foods. They have an AMAZING brunch and really delicious cocktails 🙂

5.  Any advice for other travelers?

My advice to other travelers is – don’t be afraid to ask questions during interviews about things that are important to YOU in a contract. If something doesn’t feel right, explore other options! This is YOUR experience, make the most of it!

6.  How do you compare Axis to others travel companies?

Compared to other companies, Axis is awesome because they see you as an individual, not a number. They care about who they work with and only want what is best for their travelers. I feel so close and comfortable with my recruiter, Lynna. She strives to make my experiences the best they can be, and she is honest with me when something doesn’t seem right. I am so happy I chose Axis!

Congrats Shelby! We’re so thrilled to have you on the Axis Team! 🙂
