World Food Tour: Gou Restaurant (Hatian)

September 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Get ready for a culinary journey to Haiti and the Caribbean, right here in Philadelphia! Our next stop on the World Food Tour is Gou Restaurant, where we’ll discover the rich, vibrant, and delicious flavors of authentic Haitian cuisine. Prepare your taste buds for an unforgettable experience!

Why You Should Join Us:
Gou Restaurant offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a menu brimming with traditional Haitian specialties crafted with finesse. From crispy griot (seasoned fried pork) and akra (malanga fritters) to savory tassot kabrit (marinated fried goat), rich legumes, and fragrant riz djon djon (black mushroom rice) served with fiery homemade pikliz, this is a fantastic opportunity to explore a celebrated Caribbean culinary tradition. It’s the perfect chance to try something new, enjoy a cozy ambiance, and connect with fellow adventurous eaters.

What’s the Plan?
We’ll be gathering at Gou Restaurant to immerse ourselves in their diverse menu of Haitian specialties. Get ready to share and savor a variety of dishes, experiencing the distinct spices and slow-cooked techniques that make this cuisine so special. You can explore their menu and get a preview of the deliciousness here: [menu](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/gps-cs-s/AHRPTWmM1wNPEzUclweKrly1aHQQAOMJI__sFrGTAmDrPAH4a42kwUCjOWXxJnX_B8c3HWorCuVIvuzjUMfHrs187MNk7Dbdhkmwb0DRG6SNz61yr9uUTc-b4juSZESSxGF-dWo2qS8pY5Des6v-=s1360-w1360-h1020)

The Deets:

BYOB: Feel free to bring your favorite wine, beer, or cider to complement the bold, savory spices of Haitian cuisine!
Cost: We will plan to order some shared appetizers for the table to sample a variety of tastes, and then everyone can order their own entrée. Please anticipate the total cost to be approximately $35–$50 per person (including tax and a 20% tip). To make bill-splitting easier, please bring cash.
Allergies: If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know as soon as you RSVP so I can inform the restaurant in advance.
Important: I will send a confirmation message a day or two before our visit to finalize the headcount. If your plans change, please update your RSVP to “Not Going” promptly. This allows those on the waitlist to join us and helps me adjust our reservation accordingly.
* Parking: Gou Restaurant is located at 5734 Old 2nd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120 in Olney. Street parking is available along Old 2nd Street and surrounding blocks, but rideshare is also a great option.

Can’t wait to explore the incredible flavors of Haiti with you!
