November Travel Nurse of the Month: Lindsey W.

Our November Travel Nurse of the Month is….

Name: Lindsey W.

City, State: Seattle, WA

Specialty: Oncology

Month: November

How’d you get into travel nursing?

My boyfriend and I were moving and I needed a new job in a new city where I knew no one! I was leaving my first & only nursing job that I had been in for 5 years. I was presented with many opportunities through travel nursing and I thought it would ease the transition to Seattle. I was right. 🙂

I was nervous to begin traveling but my recruiter, new manager and colleagues have been very friendly, helpful and welcome.

What’s the best part about being a travel nurse?

The freedom of the nature of the job. I was lucky enough that there were many positions available in my specialty (Oncology).  But if the initial assignment I took wasn’t a perfect match for me, or should I have wanted to explore an assignment in something a little different, there was opportunity to go down that road.  If I didn’t like it, it would not have been a permanent position so I wouldn’t have been locked in.

You meet a first time traveler in Seattle, which restaurant do they have to try?

Sunday brunch at Salty’s on Alki will blow your mind! Come hungry. 🙂

What’s the best part about the Seattle?

The number of opportunities in the healthcare field is AMAZING. It’s a highly concentrated area of large, robust institutions in downtown Seattle and also all the surrounding cities and suburbs. The landscape is absolutely pristine.

Any advice for other travel nurses?

For first time travelers – don’t be scared, just go for it! I felt very welcome & appreciated by my new colleagues, they were genuinely happy to have me working alongside them.

How do you compare Axis to others travel nurse companies?

Axis has been the only company I’ve actually taken an assignment with but I’ve worked with a few different recruiters & Nicole at Axis was the one who I felt advocated the most for me and my personal needs! Thank you again, Nicole.

Congrats Lindsey!  You’re a Rock Star!  🙂
