Live Like a Local: Chicago!

Millennium Park Chicago

Welcome to Chicago, IL!

With close to 3 million residents, Chicago, IL is one of the most populous cities in the United States. “The Windy City” as it is known, sits right on Lake Michigan and continues to grow in both popularity as both a place to visit as well as call home. Chicago is known for its rich culture and music, such as jazz and gospel, and is also home to several professional sports teams including the Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, and Bears. If you choose Chicago for your next travel nurse assignment, you’ll find there’s no shortage of things to do and places to explore.

Millennium Park brings together the great outdoors with beautiful art and free concerts for a walk to remember. Over the more than 24 acre grounds, you’ll encounter landmarks (and great photo ops) including Cloud Gate and Crown Fountain. Food and Drink:

Shaman by Chilam Balam
The best part about Shaman by Chilam Balam, a delicious Mexican eatery, is that it’s made for sharing with friends, family, or coworkers. Even better, it’s BYOB so you can stop worrying about the bar bill and bring your favorite drink with you! The menu also rotates so there’s always something new to discover.

Jollibee

If you like Shaman, be sure to check out their parent restaurant as well, Jollibee.  Here’s a fast food joint you can’t find everywhere but it’s definitely not one you’ll want to pass up! While Californians have been enjoying the Filipino restaurant for years, Chicago is the first Midwest location for the chain. You’ll love their crispy but moist Chickenjoy but be sure to order their signature Yum burger complete with a Peach Mango Pie for dessert. You’re welcome.
